The Canon in D written by Johann Pachelbel is a timeless classic and great example of counterpoint from the Baroque Era. This familiar masterpiece, originally written for harpsichord in the late seventeenth century circa 1680, has certainly stood the test of time.
This arrangement of Pachelbel’s Canon, transcribed and arranged by Tony Santorella for trumpet and piano, was edited and performed by Tim Morrison, first chair trumpeter of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
This historic melodic theme has been used for centuries at a variety of events including majestic processionals but is most frequently heard at weddings or any other similar matrimonial service.
